"Believe in Fate"

Veritas Courtyard
Today was our first day at school!  I like all the classes I have I am looking forward to this semester a lot ! The way that our classes work is that , as internationals we enroll in "intensive" language courses that are a M-F , 8 am - 12pm , then in the afternoon we can take electives.

So this month I am in Adv. Spanish 2 in the morning , which is a really long class but they give us a 30 minute "recess" which is pretty awesome but my class has no clock! so I just sit there and wonder what time of day it is , I think I need to invest in a watch because i never have any sense of time! I'm just always going with the flow. The class is a decent size , but huge by Costa Rican standards, 17 students. Theres only one guy in the class, Mason. I didn't think much of it , until we had to share a narrative and out of all the topics given he chose to write about his GF of 5 months, it was the cutest lil thing ever ! Attention to Gentlemen like Mason : I live across the street from Veritas University & accept roses & lunch dates to La Musa cafeteria :]. hahahah no` but seriously, it was too adorable, you just had to be there.

Today I also had Intercultural Communication & Theory of Latin dance these classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, all my classes are great !I titled todays post "believe in fate" because in my intercultural communication class my professor began to talk about the difference between American & Tico culture. He believes in fate, and that ticos are apart of a "fatalistic culture" they're people who believe things will fall into place as time passes as opposed to Americans... in America its always about competition and hard work, always have the eyes set on being #1. I had never really thought about fate, but i like the thought about it , i think it really suits my mentality. So in some sense I believe fate brought me here so that I could hear those words and become a believer.

Latin Dance Class
My dance class is the Bomb-diggity.. I'm not sure what I love more .. professor Rosibel or the fact that I'm getting college credit to learn & dance to Latin music .. ? My professor is hilarious& crazy, the good kind of crazy though. She reminds me of my FYS professor from back home , who was crazy also .. but the kind that I hated. I love this woman ! she's a character ! Today she taught the class how to dance  Merengue, bachata & salsa... and we all know that I WILL LEARN how to dance Salsa ! 3 of my housemate/ Tica sisters have that class with me so we all come running home at 8 to eat dinner once class is out.

Tomorrow I have Documentary appreciation, it's Mondays & Wednesdays, and there are people from literally all over the states so its really an opportunity of a lifetime.. to meet & interact with so many people.

Its incredible how I've only been here for three days and am DREADING the day I'll have to say goodbye. I really don't even want to think about having to leave.

In between classes Megan, Laura, Tyana & I decided to take an adventure & walk to the mall San Pedro ! it took a few times to ask for directions but we successfully arrived in 20 minutes. I went to the bank to exchange $$ and bought a few things including this fresh made juice with passion fruit, mango & pineapple. So authentic ! Unfortunately I couldn't find a pillow </3 so I must continue to endure the pain of this strange thing I am forced to lay my head on.

After dinner we gave Monse her gifts , which quite honestly was the best part of today. She's just sooooooo cute ! She's only 3 , but is so intelligent and well spoken. I wish I could speak my spanish like her! all jokes aside.  She is the happiest little girl tonight and I'm sure she won't be able to go to bed tonight because she wants to play with all the things we got her. I was the first one to give her the doll and she was like " well does she walk? why doesn't she walk?" Far too much was expected of my dora doll gift ! lol

I am slowly mastering the ability to take the worlds fastest showers because the water is ALWAYS freezing..& the ability to calculate the difference in money from US dollars to Colones. What a struggle ! Today at the mall I bought a bar of soap for 920 colones , and I stared at the guy like he was crazy ..  & was like FOR THAT? little did I know it was only like 1.75 in USD ... embarrassing.. But I will adjust !
Me & Anabel's convo before I shower
Me: ahh its cold .. Damn, should I just fuck it and get  in ?
Anabel: you better fuck it, because if not.. Ima fuck it !
Me: shower rappeeeeeee
