Como se dice .....?

Last night we went to the last night of the Zapote Fair, which was one huge party, very much like fairs in America, there were  rides , food & music. I had churros & my first Costa Rican beer , which here is     Cerveza Imperial. Our tico dad was showing us around , and the 5 of us that were here were following him around like lil ducklings lol he Rocks !

-- fun fact of the day : My Tico dad is capable of drinking 32 beers ! what a G! lol he was asking us and I was like um  6? and he looked at me like " aww you softeyy!".. He's also a dancer ! this man does everything !

Him, Megan and Laura  did a little getting down on the dance floor it was fun ! I didn't part take in any dancing, perhaps because I was still trying to process the fact that i got asked for my passport because I didnt look 18 .. really man ? Do I look that young ?  I told the guard "noooo yo tengo 20 años!" So that was my first bar/fair experience .. it was packed for a sunday !

Veritas had its international students orientation today, and let me tell you .. there is a MASSIVE amount of kids from the states here to study. I feel a little bad for the Ticos because they must feel that were taking over. :/

But anyhow we had our  like 3rd orientation , since we've been here so it felt more like a psychology seminar about culture shock and adjustment. I felt like I was training for orientation at EC all over again ! ahah. but I learned a few things , and the two men presenting it were great and hilarious! I learned that the first and far most important about studying abroad is to be uncomfortable.. to be out of your comfort zone. Discomfort leads to new experiences  and development and allows you to grow within the spanish language because you are forced to interact with the people &  culture that surrounds you. This allows for new relationships to build... we didn't come overseas to lock our selves up in our rooms and talk to our friends from home ! whats the fun in that ?
Anyone who knows me knows I'm the queen of saying "AWKWARRRDDDDD" So I have made it a goal to take on the awkward moments , minus the announcement out loud.. lol .
Orientation @ Veritas

They gave us a checklist of 5 things they believe will help us have a great..
not just an okay time while in Costa Rica
1- was be uncomfortable
2-Get involved
3-be curious
4-use your family as a resource
& 5-dont criticize, always look for the positive.

I definitely plan on getting involved, I have a huge to-do list for while I'm here. Outside of classes & excursions I want to take yoga classes, self defense classes, Dance classes & cooking classes. Talk about a bus load of extra curricular's. & did I mention that I live across the street from my university ? yes, yes I did .. because its the biggest perk of all !

Today was our first dinner with all 6 of us, it was a full house , but Monse was missing ! she had a long day so she was sleeping , our Tico Dad mad this amazing meal that is called " Chifrijo" which is similar to a taco salad ... it was delicious.
